How we handle information.

This page explains the limited ways personal information may be used when you contact or interact with Chard League of Friends.

Who we are

Chard League of Friends is the public name of The League of Friends of the Chard and District Hospital, registered charity number 265858.

For privacy questions, contact chdlof@outlook.com.

Information you choose to give us

We may receive personal information when you contact us by email, post or another agreed communication method. Depending on the reason for your contact, this may include your name, contact details and information you provide about a volunteering, membership, donation, event, fundraising or project enquiry.

How we may use it

We use information to respond to enquiries, organise volunteering or community activity, administer donations or membership where relevant, discuss funding or project ideas, and keep appropriate records of the charity's work.

We do not use this website for advertising or behavioural profiling.

Photos, stories and testimonials

The League may use photographs, project stories or testimonials in publicity where there is an appropriate basis and permission to do so. We aim to be especially careful where identifiable people, patients, young people, healthcare staff or partner organisations are involved.

Sharing information

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared where it is reasonably necessary to carry out a charity activity, where you ask us to do so, or where there is a legal obligation. Any routine arrangements with third parties should be proportionate to the purpose.

Retention and security

We aim to keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including any legal, accounting or governance requirements. Access should be limited to people who need it for the charity's work.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights over your personal information, including rights to ask what information is held about you, request correction, object to some uses, request deletion in some situations or raise a concern about how information is handled.

If you have a privacy question or request, email chdlof@outlook.com.

Cookies and tracking

This version of the website does not use analytics, advertising trackers or unnecessary cookies. The site is built as static HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript for the mobile navigation.

Some links take you to external services such as NHS.uk, Google Maps, Facebook or partner websites. Those services have their own privacy practices and are responsible for the information they collect when you use them.

This privacy information may be updated as the website or the charity's processes develop. The current prototype is intentionally limited to simple contact-by-email routes rather than web forms.
